3 Bucktown Hidden Gems

There are so many things to do in Wicker Park, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite spots !

1. Red June Cafe

2020 N Leavitt

Red June is a neighborhood favorite. So, if you live anywhere near Western and Armitage or Damen and Armitage, then you HAVE to know Red June.

She’s just a small little cafe located in the residential neighborhoods of Bucktown. This place serves up some of the yummiest breakfast foods and is a true weekend classic. Out of all the things to do in Wicker Park, Red June has to be on your list for breakfast. From feeding the doggies treats through their walk up windows, to keeping everyone cool on their outdoor patio. Truthfully, Red June is my favorite weekend stop before a long day.

If I had kids that played sports and had games on the weekend this is where I would be taking them for their post game snacks. This place hosts tons on donuts and pastries from the ICONIC Roeser’s Bakery on North Ave. Coming here was the first time I had ever heard of a glazed croissant. Now, I get it every single time I go because where the heck else can you get a glazed croissant!!!?

Lastly, They have some really unique takes on light bites like avocado toast with strawberries on top and mini bagels with cream cheese and tomatoes. But, when you go definitely try their classic bacon egg and cheese on a croissant, I am pretty sure they steam their eggs so they are super light and fluffy which makes the sandwich so yummy. Check out their menu to see what other awesome food they have !!

Big props to Red June they are my neighborhood fav, check out their seasonal drinks when you go!

2. Olivia’s

2014 W Wabansia Ave

Olivia’s is this cute small goods market right off Damen and Wabansia. Its my favorite little neighborhood stop in. I specifically go to Olivia’s for their floral selections. When shopping for florals, I will do a big overhaul of the Trader Joe’s flowers because yk cheap.. then I will go to Olivia’s and get a select few really unique and pretty flowers that you don’t see every day.

I also really like to stop over at Olivia’s for some meat and cheeses and random little snacks that you wouldn’t see or find anywhere else. It’s a good place to stop when you’re missing an ingredient to for dinner or to grab a last minute snack! There are so many things to do in Wicker Park, but not many places like Olivia’s for when you’re in a pinch. All of the goods stocked there are from the best small brands and have really great ingredients. A true Bucktown fav.

3. Eskell

2029 N Western Ave

Eskell is such a cool store to experience. Unfortunately, most people end up missing it! After all, Western Ave is not the place most people window shop. Unlike busy streets such as Milwaukee, Western Ave tends to be more of a desolate area with scattered shops and businesses. This means that they are missing thing entire store filled with top of the line products!

To give you an idea, the store is filled to the brim with homewares, clothes, jewelry, vintage furniture, candles, teapots, dinnerware sets, and tons of other cool knick knacks. You would have to spend hours in here to be able to see everything. There is no way you would be able to get through all of it with just a quick glance.

I have gotten some really really amazing incense here and some of my favorite candles. Everything else was slightly out of my price range when I went to look the last time I was there. Now that I got my money up a little bit I would love to go back and get a new teapot tbh. I am really in the market for a good teapot. Anyways, The staff is super nice and they really care about what they do and can help you with anything you need. Its really just a cool, fun environment to be in and if anyone is out on a shopping day I definitely recommend stopping over at Eskell!
